Another day at the Tour of Slovenia, another print victory for Dylan Groenewegen. The Team Jayco AlUla sprinter powered his way to a second straight stage win.
“There was a good group out and we were able to take control. Bahrain Victorious supported us and because of that I also had Lukas Pöstlberger with me in the final, so I only had to sprint a hundred meters," recapped Groenewegen in his post-stage interview.
Groenewegen is keen to build up form and momentum at the Tour of Slovenia as the Tour de France looms in the not-so-distant future. "It was slightly uphill, so it was quite difficult to maintain the speed," he says. "BORA-hansgrohe went full throttle on the climb, then it became more difficult."
"In the end we waited a very long time and I had a miscommunication with Luka when he went to the right. However, that is also good preparation for the Tour, because all in all it was a good lead-out," continued Groenewegen, who edged out Matteo Moschetti and Phil Bauhaus for victory. "In the end we win, so that's great."
