Dylan Groenewegen doubles up at the Tour of Slovenia taking second straight stage win

Team Jayco AlUla's Dylan Groenewegen has taken the win on stage 2 of the Tour of Slovenia. Powering to victory from a bunch sprint.

The best-suited day for the sprinters. Stage 2 of the Tour of Slovenia sees the riders race from Zalec and Ormoz throughout 163 kilometres, not a pan-flat day, but the small ascents that come close to the finish shouldn't be enough to disrupt a bunch sprint.

After five riders initially went clear in the breakaway, the last man standing was Moran Vermeulen of Team Vorarlberg.

With 18km to go, Vermeulen was caught and the race was all back together going into the finale.

Between then and the final there were numerous counter-attacks attempted, although none were able to really snap the elastic and break free from the peloton's clutches.

Heading into the final kilometre, no team really had control at the front of the bunch. When the sprints opened up, Dylan Groenewegen once again proved unstoppable, taking the win ahead of Phil Bauhaus and Matteo Mochetti.
