Losing time to some rivals, gaining on some others, the 2023 Vuelta a Espana's stage 6 has left Movistar Team's leader Enric Mas with some mixed emotions.
"With eight hundred meters to go I broke completely, the finish was really extremely tough," the Spaniard told EFE in a post-stage interview. After initially being the only rider to follow Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard, Mas eventually fell away with the likes of Juan Ayuso, Joao Almeida and Cian Uijtdebroeks all overtaking him before the line.
Now 10th in the general classification, Mas actually closed the gap on last year's Vuelta a Espana winner, Remco Evenepoel, now just 3 seconds behind the Belgian. "In the end the differences don't matter much, I don't think it's a bad result," Mas concludes.
