Vincenzo Nibali will end his 18-year-long professional cycling career in October, with Il Lombardia being his last professional race. But it seems the shark is not yet ready to give up on his MTB passion.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nibali is thinking of participating in the famous Absa Cape Epic mountain bike stage race with his former teammate Ivan Santaromita. The race is considered the most demanding mountain bike stage race in the world.
This annual mountain bike stage race is also known as the Cape Epic and was founded by Kevin Vermaak. Over 680 km and 16,900 meters of climbing are covered in eight racing days, including a prologue and seven stages. It is rumoured that Nibali might participate in the 2023 edition, although he hasn't confirmed anything.
