The
Giro d'Italia is a race that can never be taken for granted.
Tadej Pogacar certainly does not and expressed frustration with claims that he is unbeatable at the Corsa Rosa. Former winner
Vincenzo Nibali advises the Slovenian to never underestimate the race.
"Nothing is impossible for Tadej, but he should not underestimate the Giro. It's 21 days, different every day. Technical roads, the weather changes... It's not simple," Nibali said in an interview with In de Leiderstrui. The Italian should know, he has won the Corsa Rosa twice, and one of them was completely overturned in the final days of the race.
The Slovenian certainly is the man to beat at the Corsa Rosa, but the degree of domination will not be known - if it does happen. That is what everyone expects, but the Slovenian isn't carried away by the same expectations, and begins the race in Torino focused.
"I am very busy, I have appointments every day. But I like the new life," Nibali says of himself. "When I see the race on television, I sometimes miss being a professional. And the Giro is of course the most important race for me, but I'm happy to be here."
