In a dramatic finale to stage 18, Kasper Asgreen and the breakaway held of the sprinters charge led by Jasper Philipsen to take a first stage win of the race for Soudal - Quick-Step.
There had been earlier drama involving Philipsen as the Green Jersey decided to try and physically block Pascal Eenkhoorn from launching a counter-attack that would make the three-man breakaway a quartet. Despite getting physical, Eenkhoorn did eventually make it into the break, and finished second behind the stage winner Asgreen in a dramatic finish.
