VIDEO: The raw pain and emotions that follow the end of Paris-Roubaix

Paris-Roubaix is a race of drama and emotions, and the old velodrome is every year a location where it all comes out.

From the happiness of in-shock winners such as Matthew Hayman and Sonny Colbrelli to heartbreaks, after such a brutal race Roubaix sees it all. Mathieu van der Poel and John Degenkolb were perhaps the complete opposites after getting off the bike this afternoon.

Whilst the Dutchman took a glorious win after a brutal effort, he shortly after - alongside Jasper Philipsen - apologized to John Degenkolb with whom he clashed at Carrefour de l'Arbre, with the German going down and losing his chance to fight for the win. Degenkolb was in tears following his brutal effort and late demolishing moment, and was completely broken as he layed in the grass of the velodrome.
