Gianni Vermeersch impressed by Alpecin-Deceuninck's dominance in Paris-Roubaix- "It's unbelievable, I have never seen such a strong team"

Alpecin-Deceuninck came well-equipped to the Paris-Roubaix with their top contenders, including Gianni Vermeersch, who ultimately placed 11th, arriving nearly four minutes after his teammate Mathieu van der Poel completed the race.

"It's unbelievable," he told Sporza after the race. He continued, “What we have achieved is our best team performance. I have never seen such a strong team. From the first cobblestones we have taken control of the race and have not relinquished it.”

The podium was dominated by his teammates, as van der Poel claimed the top spot and Jasper Philipsen finished second. “First and second, that is phenomenal.I myself had a weak moment and I was just too far. So I had to pass, because it went just too fast. I think Paris-Roubaix next to Milan-San Remo has been the biggest target for the team this season. We succeeded. First and second I'm going to have to let it sink in,” concluded the Belgian.
