Tadej Pogacar's preparation for 2026 Vuelta a Espana is already fully on rails, but the Slovenian still finds time to be of support for his partner Urska Zigart who is currently competing at the Tour de France Femmes.
The Slovenian found much greater success at the Giro d'Italia Donne earlier this season when she finished 8th overall, but continues to compete at the best of her ability regardless.
On the iconic Mont Ventoux, she crossed the finish line in 26th position while Kasia Niewiadoma took the stage win. But what caught the cameras' attention more was a chance encounter she had.
Whilst passing what seemed like a "Slovenian corner", a familiar face appeared in front of her. Despite his careful camouflage; casual outwear with sunglasses and blue hat, Pogacar was unmistakably identified by his fiancée. Urksa herself captioned it as "found my favourite tourist along the way yesterday" in an Instagram story.
This encounter underlines the great relationship both top-level athletes share with each other.
After this episode, Pogacar likely returns to his training routine with eyes set on Vuelta's start in Monaco in two weeks' time. The Spanish Grand Tour is the last one missing in Pogacar's palmares, as he evaded his return to Vuelta ever since his very successful 2019 debut when he claimed three stage wins, third place overall and a white jersey.
Now, seven years later, Pogacar can close a circle as a five-time Tour de France champion. Or maybe set out to even greater horizons...
And Urska Zigart is very likely to appear by the roadside at some point during the race to pay back for Tadej's support.
