Whilst his main rival
Tadej Pogacar is flying at the front of the race,
Remco Evenepoel is not enjoying his day out in Kigali at the men's elite
World Championships road race.
Evenepoel is enduring something of a nightmare spell over the last 20 or 30 kilometres. After struggling on Mont Kigali, unable to respond to a brutal attack by the aforementioned Pogacar, the Belgian dropped into a chase group with compatriot Quinten Hermans and others. That wasn't the end of his frustrations however, and things boiled over when a bike change was delayed, the Belgian gesticulating in anger as his team car failed to appear.
By the time Evenepoel had finally, successfully swapped his bikes, he trailed the leading duo Pogacar and Isaac del Toro by around a minute and a half, his rainbow hopes hanging by a thread. The frustration of the Olympic champion was clear to see too as you can view for yourself below!
