A day marred by multiple crashes, stage 5 of the 2023 Giro d'Italia will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons.
Just as it looked as if the worst of the day's falls were behind the riders, a big crash in the peloton on the final corner of the day saw numerous riders including Primoz Roglic and the Maglia Rosa Andreas Leknessund held up.
Another rider who went down was the eventual stage winner Kaden Groves. Thankfully for the Australian however he was able to re-mount and get back into the bunch before the line and actually sprint to his first career stage win at the Giro d'Italia.
