Mathieu van der Poel was a clear winner this Sunday afternoon at
Paris-Roubaix, romping to his second monument of the season by three minutes in the end.
So dominant was the world champion's performance that after he crossed the line, van der Poel had enough time to celebrate, gather his thoughts and then turn his attention back to the velodrome track to witness the sprint for the rest of the podium taking place behind him.
In the end, it was more reason to celebrate for van der Poel in the sprint for second as his
Alpecin-Deceuninck teammate,
Jasper Philipsen narrowly beat
Mads Pedersen and
Nils Politt to secure a one-two finish for the duo at Paris-Roubaix for the second straight year.
