The final uphill sprint of stage 8 at the 2023 Tour de France was an absolutely brutal one. After launching his sprint early, Mads Pedersen refused to be denied victory.
It seemed as if the Lidl-Trek rider had opened up his sprint too early. And once Jasper Philipsen came out of Pedersen's slipstream it seemed a matter of time before the three-time stage winner would add a fourth of the race. But Pedersen simply would not allow it to happen and fought with all his might, refusing to give up the lead.
