Video: Lotto Soudal says goodbye to Tim Wellens, one of the team's historical figures and pillars

Tim Wellens is one of the most meaningful figures for Lotto Soudal, a rider developed within the Belgian team, of Belgian nationality, that has became one of it's leaders throughout many years over the last decades.

With his departure to UAE Team Emirates at the end of this year, it will see the end of a collaboration that has seen Wellens turn pro in 2012. The puncheur and classics expert has always had a free role within the team at Grand Tours, and made his say in breakaways often, whilst performing superbly in the one-day races both in the hilly and cobbled terrain. The Belgian team has made a video compiling some of his biggest moments and wins.

Wellens, now 31 years of age, has created a meaningful and very successful palmarès featuring 34 wins. These include two stage wins at both Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a Espana, two GC wins at the BinkBank Tour in consecutive years - 2014 and 2015 - and further GC success in the World Tout-ranked Tour de Pologne and Tour of Guangxi.

He's also won races such as the GP de Montréal and the Brabantse Pijl, alongside stage wins throughout many countries, and frequent success early in the season. His capacity to always enter the season in strong condition and his love for the rainy weather has further seen him become an unique figure in the peloton, who will now represent a different outfit for the seasons to come.
