Jay Vine is one of those riders who hasn't competed since he was a child in squads and that sometimes can show. In the fourth stage of the Giro d'Italia, he nearly crashed when he tried to catch a bottle from the UAE Team Emirates car.
Something similar already happened to him in 2021 in the Vuelta a España 2023. The Australian used his skills on the bike and reflexes to avoid a fall that most likely would have made him abandon.
