Stage 1 of the Giro d'Italia was a very fast time-trial in Abruzzo, and in the 19.9 kilometers that the riders faced big gaps were formed, with Remco Evenepoel taking a meaningful victory.
The World Champion has pulled on the first pink jersey of the race after obliterating the competition. Despite the pan-flat start the Belgian was able to take time on Filippo Ganna, and at the finish line take 43 seconds on Primoz Roglic who is expected to be his biggest competition in the mountains.
