Quick-Step take the second win of the race in two opportunities as Fabio Jakobsen seizes his first sprint opportunity of the season.
Ben King and Joey Rosskopf (Human Powered Health), Xabier Azparren (Euskaltel - Euskadi), Mathijs Paasschens (Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB), Sergio Martín (Caja Rural - Seguros RGA) and Iván Cobo (Equipo Kern Pharma) took the responsability to hit the wind early on the day and they resisted until the race hit the 18 kilometer to go mark, and from there on the race changed.
Dylan Teuns attacked on the final climb of the day and got a little gap over the peloton, in the technical descent off the Calcanto ascent some splits occured. Although later the groups reconected, David Dekker crashed into a little wooded section but luckily seemed to escape relatively unscathed.
Another crash took place with 3.8 kilometers to go as Deceuninck led the peloton into the final kilometer, with Remco Evenepoel himself taking a big turn. Within the final straight Intermarché took over with several riders to set up Alexander Kristoff, but when Fabio Jakobsen left the wheel of Andrea Pasqualon no-one could match the accelaration.
Juan Sebastián Molano and Elia Viviani rounded up the podium a few wheels behind.
