Urska Zigart suffers fractured jaw again as she's ruled out of World Championships after fiancé Tadej Pogacar's season ended by crash

Urska Zigart's season is likely over after she suffered another fractured jaw in a crash at Faun Tour on Saturday, ruling her out of the World Championships in a huge blow following her fiancé Tadej Pogacar's Vuelta a Espana crash that ultimately ended his 2026 campaign.
The AG Insurance Soudal rider, primed to represent Slovenia in Montreal, suffered a crash on stage three of the French stage race and medical examinations have confirmed that she has sustained a broken jaw.
Zigart suffered the brutal injury back in June at the Tour de Suisse but bounced back to ride the Tour de France. However, suffering the same injury again is a major setback that has officially ruled her out of the World Champonships and could well end her season.
A team statement read: "Following her crash during Stage 3 of the Faun Tour de l’Ardèche, further medical examinations have revealed a new fracture of the jaw.

"Given the nature of the injury and the fact that it concerns a repeated fracture, Urška’s 2026 season is likely to come to an early end. This would also mean she will miss the upcoming World Championships. Her focus will now fully shift towards her recovery. The team will closely monitor the healing process before making a definitive decision on the remainder of her season."
Having had a packed schedule this year, Zigart finished in the Top ten of both the Vuelta Femenina and Giro Donne. Her Tour de France Femmes performance didn't quite match the AG Insurance - Soudal rider, but her return to racing had looked promising before the crash.
Her partner Pogacar had planned to travel to Montreal to support her, as well as the Slovenian team, himself sporting brutal injuries from his Vuelta fall that includes a broken collarbone, broken vertebrae and a concussion. He underwent surgery on his broken collarbone early last week.

“Right now, he’s fully focused on recovering from his injuries. But maybe he’ll come to Canada to support me at the World Championships—or why not race himself," she joked providing an update on his condition.
"Crashes happen. You have to adapt and bounce back, and I’m sure he’ll come back stronger next year.”
The news is also a blow given that Zigart too now looks set to miss the European Championships, which will be held in their home country of Slovenia.
