The 2024 season on the road has concluded and at the top of the charts we have UAE Team Emirates who have come at the top of the classification after Tadej Pogacar's brilliant season, the constant search for UCI points all year long and the difficult year of Team Visma | Lease a Bike who suffered from mishaps all year long.
You can check the previous update. 37.410 points for UAE Team Emirates at the end of the year, substantially more than last year where they topped the chart but with Visma very close. This time around, the gap was of 17.000 points, almost the double. Visma saw it's two main leaders Jonas Vingegaard and Wout van Aert suffer brutal injuries this year, but also Sepp Kuss, Christophe Laporte and several more had to give up of big goals because of this. At the end, Vingegaard's performances and the surge of Matteo Jorgenson secured a good point tally that still saw them finish second.
Soudal - Quick-Step take the 'bronze medal' when it comes to this classification, a very small gap over Lidl-Trek who have boosted their finances quite a bit this year, and most of it was due to Remco Evenepoel's superb season. This battle came down to the very end and Evenepoel's points scored at Il Lombardia proved to be absolutely decisive.
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe was fifth in the standings, followed by Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale who had a superb season, actually being in contention for second place until the Grand Tour season - although Ben O'Connor really took the team's Grand Tour results to the big screens. INEOS Grenadiers were seventh, not far behind, but having a difficult season finale and currently being riddled by controversies and criticism.
Alpecin-Deceuninck follow in eighth place, having won the most monuments this year (Milano-Sanremo with Jasper Philipsen; Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix with Mathieu van der Poel); Lotto Dstny follow as the best ProTeam of the year. Groupama - FDJ and Israel - Premier Tech follow, Israel will also be promoted to World Tour next year with Lotto unless something unusual happens next season. EF Education-EasyPost, Movistar Team, Team Jayco AlUla, Intermarch´é - Wanty, Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL, Bahrain - Victorious and Uno-X Mobility fill the rest of the Top18.
The Norwegian team is actually entering the battle for the World Tour licenses for 2026 with it's strong performances - we will provide an update on this classification soon. Arkéa - B&B Hotels, Cofidis and Astana Qazaqstan Team have effectively scored less points this year than three ProTeams, and will be in a tight battle for maintenance next year.
