The deal had been agreed over the summer but it has now been made public. Pavel Sivakov leaves INEOS Grenadiers and UAE Team Emirates is his next destination, further bolstering the team's climbing abilities.
“I’m really excited to join UAE Team Emirates next year. It’s going to open up a new chapter in my career after the past 6 years at Ineos," Sivakov said of his first transfer as a pro rider. "For sure it’s going to be a big change for me but I’m really looking forward to joining the UAE project. I’ve been seeing how the team has been developing over the years and I ‘m happy to become part of the that, both to try and win races and to help to win races.”
Sivakov, Russian rider who got the French nationality last year, is a proven climber. Over his six-year stint at INEOS he developed into a stage-racer but has mostly remained a domestique or chasing results in smaller races. He will likely have a similar role in UAE however.
Over his time as a pro he's won races such as the Tour of the Alps, Tour de Pologne and Vuelta a Burgos whilst also coming in second at last year's Clásica San Sebastián, and having a Grand Tour top10 in his Giro d'Italia debut back in 2019.
“We are very pleased to welcome Pavel into our team for the coming years. He’s shown his ability both as a winner and as a worker and we feel he can slot in well to our team. He is still young with margin for progression but also holds experience at the top level so we are confident to see the best of him over the next years with us.”
