UAE Team Emirates officially confirm their Tour de France dream team around Tadej Pogacar

UAE Team Emirates have officially unveiled the eight names that'll represent the team colours in Florence, Italy at the 2024 Tour de France Grand Depart. The team's got only one goal in mind and that will be to raise the winner's trophy in Nice.
There's a big story in the making as Tadej Pogacar is closest to completing the Giro-Tour double than anyone else has been in last decades. After smashing the Giro d'Italia field into bits, winning the overall by nearly ten minutes, everyone is curious whether anyone will be strong enough to take down the Slovenian phenomenon.
The opening week of the race appears to be tailor-made for the Slovenian, with couple punchy stages from the start and first big mountain stage already on day 4. Another chance for Pogacar to wipe the floor with whoever is left in the contention for yellow jersey will be during the feared gravel stage 9 from Troyes to Troyes. But it won't be until the very last day that the final standings will be known as the organisers prepared a hard time trial to wrap up the race.
With such ambitious goal, UAE Team Emirates couldn't send just any support team around Tadej Pogacar. Many of the riders who will sacrifice themselves for the Slovenian leader can have been podium contenders on their own merit.
In Pogacar's mountain train, we'll find third from 2022 Vuelta a Espana Juan Ayuso, third from 2023 Giro d'Italia Joao Almeida, and third at the latest Tour de France Adam Yates. Additionally, numbers 5 and 6 in the mountain train; Marc Soler, Pavel Sivakov are also former top 10 Grand Tour finishers. On flats, the team will put most of the weight on shoulders of Nils Politt and Tim Wellens who has just recently won the Belgian TT title.

- Hey, all great and deserving of respect but let’s not look at things too pinkly. He’s only just above Marc Hirschi in the UCI rankings. He’s had the potential to do this for the last 7-8 years, it’s just all come together at once, having his moment. Maybe he went on a secret HA camp :-) Seriously though, he’s NEVER said he doesn’t believe in it (challenge: find me that quote), he said he hates it in words that would get an F1 driver punished, and for the same reasons that his fellow countryman Jonas gets crucified for, being away from family (though given team budgets, there is an obvious solution to that).
