Amanuel Gebreigzabhier will be staying with Trek-Segafredo for one more season. The Eritrean rider joined the team last season and will ride for the team until 2023.
"When I signed my first contract at Trek-Segafredo, I knew I had landed in the right environment to grow and succeed in the WorldTour," Ghebreigzabhier said. He continues, "Every race, I felt part of the team and appreciated the unique atmosphere here. It is thanks to this feeling that, in the last few months, I have been able to recover from the heavy crash I had in the Tour de Catalunya. It was a difficult period."
Gebreigzabhier is very thankful to the team for giving him one more chance to prove himself. He is clear of his goal in 2023. "The next goal is to get my best condition back and continue the growth that started during my first two years with the team. I feel very motivated for 2023. I hope I can play an important role, for the team and for myself, in stage races. The dream is to be strong enough to earn a call for the Tour de France," said Gebreigzabhier.
It was team manager Luca Guercilena who saw potential in Ghebreigzabhier and gave him a chance to prove himself. "When Amanuel joined the team, he already had a place in the pro peloton, but we saw that he still had a lot of room for improvement. We remain committed to achieving his full potential out. And I continue to believe he is a valuable force, especially in the mountains during stage races," concluded Guercilena.
