Dylan Groenewegen has won in the
UAE Tour back in 2020, but has had a difficult time winning in the suiting race. With several pan-flat stages this year, the Dutch powerhouse took an important win and his second of the year.
"Timing a sprint in the UAE Tour has been difficult for years. Today we were racing late, but in the end it turned out to be right on time," Groenewegen said in a post-race interview. "The guys did a good job. That way I could start my race in Bennett's wheel sprint."

The Jayco AlUla rider had a strong position this time around, and in a sprint where over a dozen riders could finish near the front and many had strong leadouts, he managed to be on the wheel of Sam Bennett before launching a very powerful sprint that could not be matched. Bennett rode to third whilst Fernando Gaviria sprinted to runner-up.
“I am very happy with this. We were able to continue the good start in the Saudi Tour. I am happy that I manage to win a stage in every race in which I start," Groenewegen concluded. Tomorrow he will have another opportunity to take a win.
