Teamwork makes the dream work 🤩 All in for @ThymenArensman to defend 2️⃣nd overall on today's final stage in 🇵🇱 #KeepChallenging #TdP22
Thymen Arensman had a great run of form earlier in the year at the Tour of the Alps and the Giro d'Italia, and now he is back on track after a strong Tour de Pologne which has seen him taking his first pro win.
“...We knew it could get a bit tricky if a strong breakaway went so our goal was to try and make sure we could secure second overall and bring Thymen in safely," Team coach Luke Roberts said after the finish. "The boys did a great job helping control in the beginning then when it went riding a good position".
The final stage was a rather calm affair, with the 22-year old sealing his second place in the GC. He was close to the final win, in what would be a very important result for Team DSM. However, it has closed off a successful week in Poland, with Arensman showing the form needed to target the coming races in the calendar.
“Good commitment from the boys all week and we’re happy that it paid off with second place on GC. We can be satisfied with the week, a nice result for all the work that the whole team has put in here," Roberts concluded.
