"The preparation for the Tour was the most important thing" - Jumbo-Visma encouraged by Jonas Vingegaard's Critérium du Dauphiné performance

A comfortable winner at the Critérium du Dauphiné, Jonas Vingegaard laid out a pre-Tour de France warning to any rider with hopes of taking his Yellow Jersey away from him.

"The preparation for the Tour was the most important thing," Jumbo-Visma's sports director Grischa Niermann told the team's official website following the conclusion of the 2023 Critérium du Dauphiné. "But of course, we also wanted to win this race. We are happy with the way last week went."

Claiming a pair of stage wins, Vingegaard was the general classification winner by more the two minutes when all was said and done, proving himself to be a clear level above the rest of his rivals. "We saw that Jonas was fine, as was the rest of the team," continues Niermann. "We will now return to the final phase of our training to leave nothing to chance at the start of the Tour.”

Alongside Vingegaard, Jumbo-Visma also had success with Christophe Laporte. The Frenchman claimed two stage wins and the points classification jersey.
