Team Visma | Lease a Bike have moved early for another highly-rated Danish talent, with 16-year-old Johan Andersen joining their junior pathway for 2027.
Andersen will race for the club selection of JEGG-SKIL-DJR after a prolific season across road and track. Danish reports credit him with 24 road victories at U17 level, including successfully defending his national road title with a solo win of more than a minute.
His international results have included overall victories at the U6 Cycle Tour in Sweden and European Junior Cycling Tour Assen, where he also collected every leader’s jersey.
And his latest success came only days before the Visma move was announced. Andersen stepped up against senior opposition at the Danish elite points race championships in Odense and took the title with 73 points, beating Oscar Winkler and Sebastian Juul. He is also a Danish U19 omnium champion.
“Johan is a versatile rider who enjoys hilly and demanding races, but he also excels on the track,” JEGG-SKIL-DJR said in announcing his arrival. “He already has an impressive palmares, including national titles on the road and track, as well as winning every leader’s jersey at the European Junior Cycling Tour.”

Visma move early for another Danish prospect

Andersen is entering a junior structure which is already feeding riders towards Visma’s next level. Winand Breuckers, Elias Wändel and fellow Dane Malthe Risbjerg are among the JEGG-SKIL-DJR riders stepping up to Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development for 2027, while former professional Maarten Tjallingi has joined the junior programme as a sports director.
Andersen will initially race with the club selection rather than the international squad. “I chose JEGG because their way of working appeals to me,” Andersen said. “I believe in their approach to rider development and the environment they offer.”

Denmark's biggest star at the other end of the pathway

Jonas Vingegaard remains the defining Danish presence at Visma, having won the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana with the Dutch organisation.
There is no suggestion from Visma that Andersen is being recruited as a rider in Vingegaard’s mould. His results at 16 already show a much broader profile, spanning hilly road races, stage races and national-level success on the track. What they do now share is an organisation.
While Vingegaard prepares for another season among the biggest names in the WorldTour, Andersen will begin 2027 in the JEGG-SKIL-DJR club selection under Tjallingi, taking his first steps inside the development structure Visma hope can produce their stars of the future.
