Nairo Quintana arrived at the
Giro d'Italia out of form after all the difficulties he suffered in the beginning of the year and now the
Movistar Team rider has given his impressions to Eurosport about his team's performance in the first days of the Corsa Rosa before the first big mountain stage.
"I was able to get into a good rhythm, I feel good, we are happy as a team, we have taken Rubio as far ahead as we could and now comes the mountains. We also won a stage this first week, so as a team we are very happy," he said at the start of stage 8.
The Colombian does not rule out trying to get into a breakaway today, in a day that finishes atop the Prati di Tivo climb: "If there is the opportunity we can go in the breakaway, let's see how it feels. There will be a very fast start, where men who are lost in the general classification, like me, will try to win the stage, then the group will take the stage and the attacks will come".
That said, he makes it very clear that he expects to really perform in the third week of the race, although he does not rule out anything before: "The intention is the third week, I feel good and if today is an opportunity we will go to take advantage of it."
