Óscar Sevilla was forced to abandon the
Tour Colombia 2024 after suffering a shocking fall in the final stretch of the third stage of the competition.
The incident occurred on a circuit in Tunja, with a distance of 141.9 kilometers, with only 500 meters to the finish line. Sevilla, from Team Medellin-EPM, was involved in a crash and ended up impacting against the fences, as reported by the team through its social networks.
The experienced 47-year-old Spanish cyclist, who was one of his team's top contenders for the race title, was in second place in the overall standings before the accident. After the mishap, Sevilla had to be treated and received stitches in his face and shoulder.
The team's medical report speaks of a problem in the side: "The cyclist underwent various medical check-ups and was found to have a fracture in the costal arch. We are thankful that it did not happen. We have to be reassured, Oscar is fine".
