"That hurt, but I’m finally happy to get the podium" - Emilia Fahlin on losing the final sprint to Marianne Vos

The second stage of the Tour of Scandinavia concluded with Marianne Vos’ second victory, but it was not so easy for her, thanks to Emilia Fahlin. Fahlin was the leading contender against Vos in the final sprint, where she lost narrowly and secured the silver.

“I wanted to change something from my sprint yesterday,” said Fahlin. She continues, “So, I decided to start early. Marianne passed me so close. That hurt, but I’m finally happy to get the podium. With the home crowd here, it was a good feeling.”

Fahlin has been a victim of numerous injuries, which led to a damp in her cycling career, she even missed the Tokyo Olympics last year, but this season is going great for the Swedish rider.“It’s been a tough spring, trying to come back to fitness from having a hard last part of the last year. I’ve been racing myself into fitness now and had a really good block of training,” concluded Fahlin. She currently holds 3rd position in GC, 14 seconds behind overall leader Marianne Vos.
