24-year-old Team DSM sprinter Alberto Dainese has spoken of his career-defining first Grand Tour stage win at the Giro d'Italia earlier this year and how he hopes to use it as a launchpad for future success.
The Italian sprinted to victory on home roads on the 11th stage of this year's Giro, edging out UAE Team Emirates' Fernando Gaviria for his first career Grand Tour stage win. In a Q&A on the official website of Team DSM, Dainese was asked "Did your victory at this year’s Giro personally change many things for you?"
In a reply that revealed much, Dainese responded "No." Before elaborating, "actually it didn’t change much but that feeling will always be part of me and I hope I can feel it again." Having ridden 3 of the last 4 Grand Tours, the Italian will be hoping to be in the mix once again in 2023.
