After a disappointing opening day,
Team Visma | Lease a Bike
showed encouraging signs of form on stage 2 of the 2025 Women’s Tour of
Britain. While victory went to Mara Roldan of Team Picnic PostNL, Visma placed
two riders in the top 20: Imogen Wolff finished 13th, with Linda Riedmann close
behind in 16th.
“We were able to completely turn around yesterday's
feeling,” said team manager Robby Cobbaert in a team press release. “Where we
missed the beat yesterday, today we were in the first group with two – and even
three when Margaux was still there. I can only be very satisfied with that.”
The team played a waiting game as the race reached its
decisive phase. “It wasn't up to us to take the initiative. We hoped that the
gap would be closed on the final climb, so that we could still go for third
place,” Cobbaert said. “Unfortunately, Linda and Imogen had a bit more trouble
on the final climb and they finished in thirteenth and sixteenth place. All in
all, this gives us confidence for the coming days.”
Looking ahead to stage 3, Cobbaert expects the difficulty to
rise again. “With almost 145 kilometers and more than 2000 meters of elevation,
it will be a very difficult stage. The last climb is far from the finish, so it
would be great if Imogen could sprint for victory in a group of about twenty
riders. After today's stage, we will take a good mindset with us.”
