Tadej Pogacar will have plenty goals this spring, and it will all begin with a gravel experience at the Clásica Jaén Paraiso Interior. The UAE Team Emirates rider is still set to start the Spanish race despite a recent illness.
“Tadej had a slight case of gastroenteritis, but nothing more unusual than that," Pogacar's manager Joxean Matxin answered when asked about the Slovenian during the Volta a Comunitat Valenciana by Cyclingnews. "He missed a few days of training, and obviously, the training days that came immediately afterwards weren’t as high quality as they could have been because he was getting back to normal. But it’s not going to affect his season debut.”
Pogacar is a rider who does not frequently get injured or crash, however this shouldn't cause to much of an issue. The Slovenian is having the UAE Tour as his first big goal of the season, and a packed spring which will all the way into Liège-Bastogne-Liège include plenty of realistic objectives where he can take very big victories.
“The whole year’s program has been worked out right the way through to October but that’s information which the team will publish in due course," Matxin added.
