Steven Kruijswijk extends with Jumbo-Visma for two more years, until at least 2025. Kruijswijk has been with the Dutch organization ever since 2007.
“I am still full of motivation and am enjoying cycling a lot. The road we have taken with the team in recent years and the high level we reach play a crucial role. Even if I am no longer the absolute leader, I think I can still play a very important role in this team," Kruijswijk talks about his role in the team. "I want to continue to be part of the team for at least another two years and I am very curious to see what we can all achieve in that period.”
Sportive director Merijn Zeeman agrees. “Steven has traveled a wonderful journey together with the team. From young talent to leader in grand tours. His third place in the 2019 Tour de France was the absolute highlight of his career. Both the team and Steven have now reached the next stage. Steven still has the level to play a very important role in the more difficult stage races and grand tours. In addition, his experience and tranquility are very important for the balance in the team. We are therefore very happy that our collaboration will continue even after this season.”
Kruijswijk and Jumbo-Visma had been through many ups and downs over the course of seventeen seasons, including the iconic moment, when Kruijswijk was on his way to winning the Giro d'Italia 2016, until he fell in Colle dell'Agnello descent, injured himself, and lost nearly 7 minutes in just two stages.
