Israel - Premier Tech's 'Welsh Wizard' Stephen Williams has capped off a brilliant season for himself with overall victory at the 2024 Tour of Britain. On the final stage in Felixstowe however, it was Matevz Govekar who powered to the victory.
With the peloton all over the place heading into the final 30km of this frantic stage, some notable names had sadly been forced to abandon the race, including Paul Magnier, Tom Pidcock and Gianni Moscon. With 30km to go however, a lead group that included race leader Stephen Williams was over a minute clear than the second part of the peloton.
Despite repeated attacks from Remco Evenepoel and Julian Alaphilippe before the finale, a sprint was the decider of the day. With Magnier having abandoned though, it was hard to pick a favourite. In the end, Matevz Govekar was the man to take victory ahead of Rasmus Pedersen and Ben Swift.
