From the 11th to the 18th of October what can be termed as the regular season's final stage-race will be taking place, in Malaysia. It's the Tour de Langkawi, featuring eight stages that suit many different riders, a 2.Pro rating and several World Tour teams who chose to be here because of the - now decided - fight for World Tour maintenance.
The race features eight different different, five of them designed purely for the sprinters, which have been attracted to the race to have a last chance to grab wins in 2022. Stage 1 will be hilly and provide for a tough opening day that should be relatively open into Kuala Lumpur. Stages 3 and 7 will be the decisive stages for the overall classification, with summit finishes at Genting Highlands (8.6Km; 8.6%) and Gunung Raya (13.3Km; 6%) making for the mountainous stages.
The final startlist includes the likes of: George Bennett, Juan Sebastián Molano, Ion Izagirre, Thomas de Gendt, Max Kanter, Matteo Jorgenson, Iván Sosa, Hugh Carthy, Esteban Chaves, Gianni Moscon, Jakub Mareczko, Anthon Charmig and Eduardo Sepúlveda.
