"Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't, but you learn from that" - Bad luck triumphs over Arnaud De Lie at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad

Arnaud De Lie was among the wide range of favourites to triumph in the Opening classic of this spring. However the Belgian champion, went through hell and frankly never returned. After several setbacks during the race, he crossed the line more than five minutes behind the winner.
"I had bad luck with my wheel and had to switch bikes, which meant I had to chase back à bloc. Right before the Molenberg, there was a crash that held me up. Just before the Eikenberg, I made it back to the peloton, but by then, I had spent my best energy," De Lie told Sporza afterwards.
The race would've eventually gone down to a sprint of around 50 riders. When asked if it was extra bitter because he could've had a good shot at victory, De Lie replied: "I don't know what happened, I don't have a TV on my Garmin."
Now it's time to quickly turn the switch. "I'll stay positive for the rest of the spring anyway. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't, but you learn from that. I may not have had the best day of my life, but we'll stay positive."

- Actually, this should be normal, and would make cycling more interesting, it’s just that over the last period, racing has become more predictable, either because a couple of participants are above the rest or because there is a lack of will to attack outside planned strategy.
