Silvia Persico took her racing career to new heights in the Tour de France Femmes. The Valcar Travel & Service rider secured one silver and one bronze during the tour and finished in 5th position in GC.
"When I started the last climb, I tried to stay calm. I saw the other riders wanted to try to go full gas. I wanted to arrive in the gravel sector with good legs. When I was in the last 200 meters, I started the sprint and finished third. I'm very happy," Persico told Cyclingnews.
She also revealed her contract with a World tour team for2023. Although she did not name the team yet ." I will change teams next year, but I can't say which team yet,” said Persico. She currently enjoys the freedom to attack without needing to support her teammates, but she will have to adjust according to her new team position in the future." When I move to my next team, I must work, and when I have my chance I will try to make a good result,” said Persico.
"I finished in the top 5 at the Tour de France, and so I'm very happy," concluded Persico. The young rider has yet to reach her full potential in the coming years. She will do her best to make a name for herself.
