Shirin van Anrooij ends the tour with white jersey - "I just want to enjoy this jersey. I want to grow step by step"

Trek-Segafredo may not have shared the podium in Tour de France Femmes, but they did not return empty-handed. Shirin van Anrooij ended the tour with the white jersey.
“Today was extremely hard for me, I just felt shit from kilometer zero,” said Van Anrooij. While other riders were aiming for the yellow jersey, she was aiming for the white jersey, which she successfully got in the end.“I was just surviving until the top. I was really just looking for the white jersey today, I was just fighting, and in the end, it was enough, so I am happy,” said Van Anrooji.
She continues, “This was my first long stage race; it was so hard. I really just tried to be there for the team, and it was really cool to race together for Elisa. In the end, I could go for the white jersey, and I learned so much again. I also learned to suffer more than ever – I think I can only grow from this Tour,” Van Anrooij said.
She finished the final stage in 22nd place and 14th in GC. She is satisfied with the white jersey for now. “Now I just want to enjoy this jersey. I want to grow step by step and maybe, one day, in a few years time,” concluded Van Anrooji.
