Johan Bruyneel spoke ahead of the penultimate stage of the Vuelta a España on Lance Armstrong's The Move channel about Primoz Roglic's situation at Jumbo-Visma following his controversial statements about the team's decision to let Sepp Kuss win the race.

Roglic commented that he had 'his own thoughts on the subject', making it clear without saying so explicitly that he did not agree with his team's decision. This was Bruyneel's opinion on the subject:

"I think that explains a lot of what's been going on with the team, it's clear that he's not happy, he's a winner and winners want to win, and I think he's not happy with the situation. I think he started the Vuelta unhappy,in the team they probably told him the leader ahead of Roglic, so I wouldn't expect Kuss to be leading on stage 20, he went into the race to win. Since the breakaway he's been in the background because he was second in position.

He speaks of Roglic's coldness despite his good feeling with Sepp Kuss: "When I see the interaction of the guys after the finish, I see a cold Primoz, he's not happy, he didn't celebrate the win on the Angliru, I think there's a friction between Jonas and Primoz, when he said 'I have my own thoughts about it' he made it clear he didn't agree with the decision, something that's disappointing for me."

He is clear that he will want to change teams if he wants to have a chance of winning more grand tours between now and the end of his career:

"He's not going to get any younger and he's aware that he has to win big Tours now, so I see all this as a warm-up to go to another team next year even though he still has a contract. If he wants to have a chance to win the Tour he has to change team, in Jumbo it's established that Jonas is the strongest rider, the strongest, if Primoz goes to the Tour he's going to be the second leader, and I don't think he wants to be in this situation."

I think Bruyneel is right. When Roglic attacked on the Angliru, he was also attacking Jonas, who had no choice but to follow. Roglic is a hippocrite. He says "mano a mano" but Sepp waited for him on the same climb last year and again in stage 16 of the Giro this year. Had Sepp rode with the same credo, Roglic would have lost time and possibly, those wins. Burning the best superdomestique in the world after he helped you win 4 Gran Tours is just stupid and selfish. I hope he goes to Bahrain. Let Jonas and Sepp divvy up the GT's between them.
