Results men's junior road race world championships 2026 - Benjamin Noval Jr. dominates and doubles up gold medal

The 2026 World Championships have seen the birth of a new mega talent in pro cycling. Benjamin Noval Jr. had already proven his worth via many strong performances, but he has now sealed his second rainbow jersey in the space of days within the men's junior field.
This Thursday ends with the men's junior event, putting the riders through 134 kilometers - the same course and distance as in the women's under-23 riders earlier in the day. The riders faced nine laps of the Montréal circuit, enough climbing to make the difference between the best in this field.
Sindre Orholm-Lonseth, Lancelot Gayant and Sander Willems formed the day's breakaway, anticipating the fast and tactical race behind. The trio would actually survive until very late in the day, despite the many attacks behind from plenty of strong riders.
With 33 kilometers to go, Benjamin Noval attacked with Simon Defrance following him. The duo caught up with the front riders; but Noval would attack once again with 27 kilometers to go, creating the winning gap very quickly in a matter of a few kilometers. Behind, still in the penultimate lap, Noval looked to seal the race whilst there were gaps everywhere.
Gayant worked for Defrance behind and kept him at bay, eventually leaving the Frenchman in position to take the silver medal. But, despite the high pace, Defrance was unable to close the gap and saw Benjamin Noval Jr. - who will be racing with Netcompany INEOS from next season onwards - take the win and gold medal.
