Dylan Groenewegen sprints to victory at the 2026 GP Jean-Pierre Monseré
Dylan Groenewegen of Unibet Rose Rockets has taken yet another victory this season, a very prestigious one at the GP Jean-Pierre Monseré has he battled a World Tour peloton packed with sprinters.
The race was flat and included a circuit with a few cobbled sectors, not too selective but enough to make it a tactical affair. Sente Sentjens and Kamil Malecki then attacked with 39 kilometers to go, a strong move that built a solid gap over the peloton and provided them with an advantage into the final cobbled road of the race.
In the final sector there were attacks and Jayco was heavily present, with Dries de Bondt and Pascal Ackermann forming part of the move, joined by Quick-Step's Stan van Stricht, Alpecin's Simon Dehairs and Bahrain's Zak Erzen. They connected with the front two and this meant that several teams were now not working behind.
In the final 3 kilometers Iuri Leitão tried to bridge across to the front by himself, unsuccessfully. The front group had only a couple of seconds leading into the final sprint, with the pressure seeing Pascal Ackermann launching his dash to the line first. This provided a launchboard to his rivals but at the same time, Unibet Rose Rockets had the perfect leadout from behind and Dylan Groenewegen sprinted from the back riders to take a superb sprint victory, making the catch and overtake in the very final meters of the stage. Simon Dehairs and Kamel Malecki finished second and third, still from the front group.
