Results Bretagne Classic 2026 - Alex Aranburu strikes inside final 2km to snatch victory in Plouay

Alex Aranburu won the 2026 Bretagne Classic after attacking inside the final two kilometres and holding off Alexander Kamp in a dramatic finish in Plouay.
The Cofidis rider made his move from the front group with 1.8 kilometres remaining and quickly opened a gap. Kamp emerged as the closest challenger in the final kilometre, but Aranburu stayed clear to seal victory, with Alessandro Borgo completing the podium for Bahrain - Victorious.
The winning attack came after the race had been repeatedly reshaped through the final hour. Liam Slock, Emil Herzog, Markus Hoelgaard, Quinten Hermans and Benjamin Thomas had carried a 34-second advantage into the final 18 kilometres, having emerged from a larger sequence of attacks and regroupings.
Their advantage was still 25 seconds with 7.5 kilometres remaining, but the race came back together enough to produce another series of attacks on the final approach to Plouay. Paul Lapeira attacked with 6.1 kilometres to go before being caught, while Herzog also tried to move clear shortly afterwards.

The decisive selection formed inside the final five kilometres, when PCS recorded a split in the peloton and a group of 10 riders gaining a small advantage. With three kilometres remaining, that group held around 10 seconds over the peloton.
Aranburu then launched the move that settled the race at 1.8 kilometres to go. Kamp gave chase inside the final kilometre, but could not close the gap before the line, leaving Aranburu to claim his 12th professional victory.
The race had earlier lost Paul Magnier, one of the leading pre-race favourites, after the Soudal - Quick-Step rider abandoned shortly after being involved in a 10-rider crash with around 50 kilometres remaining. Aranburu's victory gave Cofidis a major WorldTour one-day success, with Kamp second for Uno-X Mobility and Borgo third for Bahrain - Victorious.

- Am interested to get more of your insight on what you’re saying. I know from experience and logic that fractures CAN heal stronger (IF properly treated). On the other hand, there are also cases where fractures cannot heal properly and stay weak points or where another fall on a (maybe stronger) fracture creates a more complex fracture adjacent making it more problematic to heal. But my real concern is whether this stronger repairing applies to every type of bone as vertebrae are quite unique in that it isn’t really the bone that matters but the interaction of the ensemble with other parts. Ican even imagine that the change of size and shape of the new material vertebrae can have implications on the very sensitive surrounding tissue and functions.
