"Remco is getting better and better" - Dirk De Wolf impressed by Remco Evenepoel's progression

From overall victory at the UAE Tour to record breaking climbs up Mount Teide, Remco Evenepoel has already displayed good legs in 2023. One person who certainly has been impressed is Dirk De Wolf.

"Remco is getting better and better. He kicks the same values ​​as Wout van Aert and Tadej Pogacar," says the former Liège–Bastogne–Liège winner on the Wielerclub Wattage show. "And unlike others, Remco doesn't drive a moped or hang on a car."

Despite clearly being impressed by the reigning world champion's early season form, De Wolf does feel Evenepoel could be a bit quieter. "I told Remco not to give everything away. But I think he still gives away a lot of information to the competition."

"He blurs out the most important data," ex-pro Jan Bakelants argues. "We just see his climb times, he doesn't disclose his wattages. I think they have already experienced enough of Remco's capabilities in the course. The competitors may still know how hard Remco trains, you can't close that gap."
