Stage 3 of the
Tour de Wallonie has been won by Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe's
Davide Donati, a member of the under-23 team that is competing in Belgium against the World Tour field this week. The Italian rider has surprised with a sprint victory against
Milan Fretin.
The third day of the race looked to be an important one for the overall classification and due to the fast pace and attacks that we've seen throughout the day, there was some damage and a strong group including Mathias Vacek, Corbin Strong, Luca Mozzato and more took to the front of the race.
The group had everything to succeed but it didn't have the necessary understanding. This led to it being caught inside the very last kilometer where then in a sprint, the 20-year old managed to outsprint Milan Fretin and
Anders Foldager to take his first pro win.
Donati, 20 years of age, is the reigning under-23 time-trial champion in Italy and is doing his first stage-race for the German team. With big gaps not having been created yet, the coming two days will provide the classics specialists with the opportunity to succeed.
