Sebastian Putz will step up to the WorldTour with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe in 2027 after spending two seasons with the German team's development squad. The 23-year-old Austrian will now have the opportunity to continue his progression within a setup committed to developing young talent and promoting riders through its own ranks.
Putz has already had a taste of racing at the highest level. During 2026, he combined under-23 events with several appearances for the WorldTour team, spending approximately a third of his racing days alongside the senior squad.
Among his most notable experiences was the 4 Jours de Dunkerque, where he helped support Laurence Pithie's overall victory. He also finished his season at the Eneco Tour and competed in several one-day races across Belgium and France.
Putz, who finished second at the Istrian Spring Tour, has also shown that he is capable of challenging for individual results. However, his first season as a full-time WorldTour professional will be focused primarily on supporting his teammates and establishing himself as a reliable domestique.

From the development squad to supporting the team leaders

The Austrian is approaching this next chapter with a clear understanding of his role. Although he has not ruled out the possibility of taking victories of his own in the future, his immediate priority is to meet the team's demands and contribute to the success of its established leaders.
"I've learnt an incredible amount over the past two years and I'm very glad I had that extra year with the Rookies. The varied race programme allowed me to prepare well for this step," explained Putz, reflecting on the experience he has gained within the development setup.
The newest addition to Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe's WorldTour squad also recognises that he will be expected to play a supporting role during his first seasons at the top level. "Of course, it would be nice to win a race myself at some point. But I know I'm joining the WorldTour as a domestique, and that's exactly what I want to be," he said.
His main objective is to earn the trust of both his teammates and the team's sporting management through his performances on the road. Putz understands that his success will not be measured purely by individual results, but also by his ability to support the team's leaders in some of the most demanding races on the calendar.
"If I do my job well enough to keep both the riders and the management happy, then I'll have achieved my goal," the Austrian added.
His promotion is another step forward for Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe's development programme, which continues to provide a pathway for young riders into the professional ranks. For Putz, 2027 will be about establishing himself at WorldTour level and proving his value to the team before potentially taking on greater responsibilities in the years ahead.
