The Spanish national championships have seen quite a surprise arise from it's results, as the main favourites for the race did not manage to perform at the expected level, and young Raúl García Pierna bursted through the scene to take a surprising win.
The 38-kilometer long route in Cala Millor was open, however such an unexpected scenario was not expected. In a shocking outcome, the podium failed to include some of the main favourites and instead saw 21-year old Raúl García Pierna take the win, beating Movistar's Oier Lazkano and Xabier Azparren. After their recent win at La Route d'Occitanie with Roger Adrià, this constitutes another impressive and important win for Equipo Kern Pharma.
