INEOS Grenadiers have announced the launching of a new academy in Kenya, founded by the British brand that has connections with the team, with the goal of finding and developing young talents in both running and cycling.
Team Principal Dave Brailsford has said that "this is a significant and exciting development in world cycling - it has the power to drive lasting change by developing new riders from Africa." The academy was opened with connections to Eliud Kipchoge, one of the world's most successful runners, but will also look to tracking and finding new talented riders from the region.
With the World championships taking place in Rwanda in 2025, aswell as the evolution of Black African riders from northeastern Africa such as Biniam Girmay and Natnael Tesfatsion, the sport is more popular than ever in the region. This will come as another step towards the evolution of sport in the area.
