Primoz Roglic has won the opening prologue of the
Itzulia Basque Country and ever since
Jumbo-Visma have been strangling the peloton with it's collective strength to prevent rivals from taking time on the race leader. Today Jumbo were again attacked, but arrived to the finale safely and in control.
As
Jonas Vingegaard controlled the attack of Julian Alaphilippe and Daniel Martínez - who ended first and second on the stage - in Vivero, Roglic managed to keep it together on the steep slopes, and later targeted the sprint: "Of course I would have liked to win, but I lacked a bit of luck today. It was a tough day with a lot of attacks and action on the last climb. Jonas and I really pushed it to the finish."
