We take a look at the
profiles and favourites for the
Super 8 Classic, which will take place on the
20th of September. This is one of the many Belgian semi-classics that finish off the season, but has gained significant importance mainly due to
Wout van Aert's presence in it. It is estimated to
start at 13:20CET and
finish at 17:50CET.
The Belgian race has a traditional Belgian course, where both sprinters and classics specialists have the opportunity to score big. This is a race that doesn't have any large climb, but has dozens of small ones where decisive attacks can take place. With the luxurious startlist, both with sprinters and classics specialists at the start, we can expect all sorts of scenarios and attacks early on.
The race has 200 kilometers in length and small explosive ascents right from its beginning. But the action will really kick in with 83 kilometers to go when the final sequence of ascents begins. The riders will also have a small circuit which includes two laps of the cobbled Moskesstraat which is 600 meters long at 8% - with two short climbs right after. There is lots of room for splits to happen, but the final 30 kilometers are mostly flat and do allow for a regathering to take place, which could then lead to a sprint.
