The news that Tadej Pogacar will race the Giro d'Italia have broken through the cycling community. The decision was surely taken during the ongoing training camp of UAE Team Emirates, and the explanations should be given soon. What is your opinion on Pogacar's decision to race the Corsa Rosa?
Pros: Pogacar has raced the Vuelta a España and Tour de France in the past, winning stages in both and the GC on two occasions in France. Racing the Giro gives him an opportunity to already seal an achievement which is of capturing stage wins on all. He will likely be the man to beat for the pink jersey and should not have the competition of neither Jonas Vingegaard, Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel who focus on the Giro d'Italia. If he wins the Giro as well, it would leave only the Vuelta a España left to win in terms of Grand Tours, and combining both in 2024 is very plausible, if the sponsors do not pressure him into still racing the Tour.
Cons: Targeting the Giro d'Italia will certainly diminish Pogacar's chances of winning the Tour de France, if he is to target it. Jonas Vingegaard took the best of him the past two years, but it can be argued that with the gravel stage, there would be a clear opportunity to make the difference and get ahead of his main rival who is not a fan of the explosive type of racing. He lacked the ideal preparation this year and blamed that on his crack at the Col de la Loze. Without the perfect preparation it becomes very difficult to challenge the Dane. Racing the Giro will also inevitably restrict the spring goals for the Slovenian. Although he has all Ardennes classics and the Tour of Flanders in the past, he cannot race both if he will go to Italy.
Regardless, we should get answers soon on the decision. We create a poll so that you can express your opinion on the matter. Should Tadej Pogacar race the Giro d'Italia in 2024 or postpone his debut for another year?

I think maybe he’s running scared. The longer climbs are not his forte.Jonas Vingegaard seems to have the measure of him in this particular area.He would most probably triumph in the Giro d Italia though.I personally would like to see him in the tour as it looks a stellar grouping of top riders.

To take the pressure off & race il girata instead of the tour is far better, Visma/loanabike have a cracking Dr and I'm sure he knows it...tho Vingegard is boring as the proverbial

It's his choice, his career, it's down to him and UAE to create the best program they can... Giro just got much more exciting

I think that it'll be much easier to answer this question during week 3 of the Tour de France.
